TASC Vision

From Worksite Photo
to Safety Intelligence

TASC VisionScan™ uses an AI model and structured hazard-analysis framework to produce preliminary findings from a submitted photo. A qualified person must review the image, context, and output before it is used for a safety decision.

How TASC VisionScan™ Works

Five steps from photo capture to employer dashboard and worker passport.

1
Photo Capture
A worker or supervisor captures a worksite photo — via the Employer Portal (safety manager uploads for facility-wide analysis) or the Safety Passport (individual worker captures from their mobile device). The photo is the only input required.
2
Controlled Photo Processing
The TASC backend routes the photo and necessary technical context to the AI provider configured for VisionScan. The photo and resulting analysis may be retained with the safety record, and selected images and annotations may be used in restricted TASC datasets for validation and model improvement. Provider processing and retention depend on the configured service and account controls.
3
Structured Hazard Analysis
The AI receives a structured safety prompt asking it to identify visible energy types, hazard zones, controls, potential gaps, exposure pathways, and preliminary severity information. Model output can vary and may miss, misclassify, or infer details that are not present.
4
AI Returns Structured Data
The model returns JSON-formatted output including overall risk score, severity label (SAFE / CAUTION / HIGH / CRITICAL), narrative summary, energy matrix, hazard cards with exposure pathways, controls detected, control gaps, and bounding box coordinates for the annotated photo overlay.
// Example AI response (abbreviated) { "overall_risk_score": 7.2, "severity_label": "CRITICAL", "narrative_summary": "...", "energies": [{ "type": "Gravity", "magnitude": 10, "score": 7.8 }], "hazards": [{ "name": "Struck-by (falling pallets)", "severity": "CRITICAL" }], "controls_detected": [{ "name": "Forklift load spreader bars" }], "control_gaps": [{ "name": "No visible exclusion zone barriers" }], "bounding_boxes": [{ "label": "Hazard Zone", "color": "orange" }] }
5
Structured Delivery
Employers see the full risk assessment with energy matrix, control status, actionable gaps, and annotated photo in the dashboard. Workers see a plain-language personal risk summary, "What's Good," and "What's Concerning" on their Passport. Both can print/export PDF and take corrective action directly from the assessment.
Aspect Why It Matters
SpeedProcessing time varies with image size, provider availability, and network conditions
ConsistencyA standardized prompt structures the review, but AI results can vary and require validation
ScalabilitySupports repeated photo reviews across configured workflows, subject to service limits
EmpowermentAuthorized workers can submit scans for review through supported workflows
DocumentationEligible completed reviews can include timestamps and support export for authorized recordkeeping and audit workflows
AI-Generated Content May Contain Errors
TASC Vision is an AI-assisted decision support tool, not a replacement for qualified safety professionals. AI models can misidentify hazards or miss subtle risks. Findings should be verified by a qualified person before safety-critical or high-consequence decisions. Organizations remain responsible for inspections, legal duties, training, accommodations, and human review under the applicable jurisdiction.

Employer Dashboard Walkthrough

A hypothetical warehouse loading dock scene: three forklifts stacked with palletized goods 8–10 feet high, two workers near the loading area, spreader bars and load signage in place — but no physical exclusion zone barriers.

Risk Score & Severity Badge
Large badge shows risk score 7.5 — CRITICAL with a color bar from green (Safe) to red (Danger). Immediate visual triage at a glance.
Annotated Photo with Layers
Original photo with toggleable bounding box layers: Hazard Zones, Controls in place, Control Gaps. Click any box to expand details.
Energy Identification Matrix
Magnitude × Exposure × Probability scoring per energy type. Gravity (10/10) dominates due to suspended loads and worker proximity. Motion secondary.
Hazard Exposure Cards
Detailed cards per potential hazard: severity, exposure type, pathway description, workers exposed, frequency, and energy source, with a recorded review trail.
Control Detection Section
Engineering, administrative, and PPE controls identified from the photo. Status indicators show confirmed controls vs. assumed vs. not visible.
History & Trend Analysis
Prior analyses for the same location, sortable by date or risk score. Trend line shows if controls are improving or degrading over time.
PDF Export
Export the report, bounding boxes, and recommendations for review and recordkeeping. The export does not by itself establish regulatory compliance or due diligence.
AI Risk Narrative
Plain-English paragraph summarizing the dominant risks and recommended immediate actions, generated alongside the structured data output.
Example: Warehouse Loading Dock (Risk Score 7.5 — CRITICAL)
Energy Type Magnitude Exposure Probability Score
↓ Gravity 10 8 3 7.5
⟳ Motion 8 6 2 5.3
Hazards Identified
CRITICAL Struck-By (Falling or Swinging Load)
Pathway: Worker standing near or beneath suspended load during lift, shift, or lower operations.
Workers exposed: 2–3 active during shift | Frequency: Occasional (5–10× per shift) | Energy source: Gravity
Detail: If a load slips from the spreader bar or a lifting operation fails, workers face direct impact or crush injury. No physical exclusion barriers prevent unauthorized zone entry.
CRITICAL Crush (Load & Equipment)
Pathway: Worker pinned between forklift and dock structure, or between two stacked loads.
Workers exposed: 2–3 active during shift | Frequency: Occasional | Energy source: Gravity + Motion
Detail: During pallet positioning, limited operator visibility and no spotting protocol increase risk of worker being pinned.
Control Gaps
Gap: Lack of visible physical barricades or exclusion zone tape around the potential fall zone of suspended loads. Impact: Workers can unknowingly enter a high-risk zone.
Gap: No visible tag line control system to prevent load rotation during lift operations. Impact: Load swing could strike personnel or nearby equipment.

Safety Passport Walkthrough

Same scene, simplified view — designed for quick comprehension and personal safety awareness, not compliance reports.

Risk Score in Plain Language
Large badge: 7.5 CRITICAL with subtitle "Scan from today at 10:23 AM." Plain-language: "This is a high-risk area. Read the safety guidance below."
Plain-Language Summary
AI-generated paragraph in simple language describing the hazards and what the worker should do — no safety jargon, no energy matrices.
What's Good
Green checklist of controls confirmed in the scene: spreader bars, hard hats, high-vis vests, load-limit signage. Positive reinforcement for existing safety culture.
What's Concerning
Orange/yellow warnings about issues observed: no physical barriers around load path, limited forklift operator visibility, no tag line controls visible.
Actionable Recommendations
Specific, actionable suggestions: establish physical exclusion zones, implement spotting protocol, require tag lines, verify forklift operator certification.
Create Corrective Action
Opens a form to create a trackable safety action (e.g., "Install barrier tape by EOD") linked to the scan for audit trail.
Privacy Control
Available sharing controls let workers manage some personal scans. Employer access can also depend on who created the record, organization settings, permissions, and applicable legal requirements.
Portable Safety Record
Where enabled, recent personal scans and trend data can remain available in the worker's account. Continued access and sharing depend on account status, permissions, retention rules, and participating organizations.

Produces structured reports for review by appropriately trained personnel

Technical Implementation

How TASC Vision processes data under the hood.

1
Photo Intake
A worker or authorized employer user uploads a supported JPEG or PNG through the web or mobile workflow. Device and browser compatibility vary.
2
AI Proxy Routing
TASC securely routes the image and necessary technical context to the AI provider configured for VisionScan. Direct account identifiers are not intentionally included in the analysis prompt.
3
Structured JSON Response
The service requests structured model output and applies parsing and retry controls. Output can still be incomplete, invalid, delayed, or unavailable and must be reviewed before use.
4
Frontend Rendering
The web or mobile interface can render the annotated photo, overlays, energy matrix, hazard cards, and available actions. Rendering time varies by device, connectivity, service availability, and scene complexity.
5
Storage & Audit Trail
The photo, score, timestamp, findings, and related actions may be stored in TASC's AWS database and object storage as part of the safety record. Access and retention follow organization settings, product controls, applicable agreements, and legal requirements.

What TASC Vision Is — and Isn't

Five things you need to know before deploying TASC Vision in your safety program.

1. AI Accuracy
TASC Vision can produce both false positives and false negatives. It does not provide clearance, certify a site, or prove that a condition is safe. A qualified person must verify the image, context, and output before critical decisions.
2. Regulatory Responsibility
TASC Vision is a decision-support tool. Organizations must still conduct required inspections and investigations using qualified personnel under the applicable jurisdiction. It supplements rather than replaces required safety programs.
3. Insurance Decisions
Insurance carriers may require independent verification of TASC Vision findings before adjusting premiums. TASC Vision does not replace required safety audits. Check with your carrier before using findings in premium negotiations.
4. Privacy
Designed with data minimization, access controls, and worker sharing choices. Privacy rights and cross-border transfer requirements are handled according to the applicable law, agreement, and configured service region.
5. Liability
TASC Vision provides recommendations, not instructions. Employers remain responsible for all workplace safety decisions and outcomes. Use TASC Vision as one input among many in your safety management system.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is TASC Vision?
Performance varies by hazard type, image quality, lighting, angle, environment, and model version. TASC does not publish a general accuracy percentage without a documented validation scope. Always verify findings with a qualified safety professional, especially for critical or high-consequence decisions.
Can I use TASC Vision instead of hiring a safety consultant?
No. TASC Vision is a supplement to professional safety expertise, not a replacement. It may help organize visible conditions for review between professional audits, but it can miss hazards and does not replace inspections, investigations, training, or qualified judgment.
Who can see my analysis?
Worker-created analyses use the product's available sharing controls. Employer-created facility analyses are available to authorized employer users. TASC service providers process data as needed to host, analyse, secure, and support VisionScan; TASC does not sell the data.
What if TASC Vision misses a hazard?
Report it and take any required safety action without waiting for the service. Feedback may be reviewed for support, validation, and product improvement under applicable notices, permissions, retention controls, and agreements. Feedback does not guarantee a model change.
Is my photo stored or used for AI training?
Photos may be stored with the VisionScan safety record and processed by the configured AI provider. TASC will not place Customer content into a separate model-training or improvement dataset unless the use is separately enabled under a signed agreement and supported by any notice, authority, and consent required by law. Confirm the configured provider and region before regulated or sensitive imagery is submitted.
Does TASC Vision work for all industries?
TASC VisionScan™ is intended to assist with visible physical conditions in supported images. Suitability varies by industry, scene, image quality, jurisdiction, and configuration. A low score never proves that risk is low or that a workplace is compliant.
What happens if the AI analysis fails?
The service may retry some failed requests. If analysis remains unavailable, try again or contact support, and do not rely on VisionScan for a time-critical decision. An unavailable result is not a safety clearance.
